What is the best 5 day itinerary for Switzerland

Switzerland is a fantastic place not only for honeymoon couples but also for families. Its an ideal spot for travellers who not only wants to relax but also wish to enjoy the natural beauty of Switzerland. With amazing infrastructure ,seamless transport & breathtaking views & activities Switzerland is indeed an ideal spot for any traveller of any age group.

Before suggesting itineraries I also wish to inform you about various country combinations that can be planned with Switzerland

  1. Swiss & Paris: A great combination and mostly used by honeymoon couple who wish to enjoy not only the scenic beauty but also wish to experience the romantic city “Paris” by visiting Eiffel Tower. I recommend minimum stay of 6 Nights in total, 4 nights in Swiss and 2 night in Paris though days can be increased as per your budget and interest. Check details here swissolidays.com
  2. Swiss With Italy: Swiss can again with combined with Italy which is again a great place for people who with enjoy scenic beauty with some amazing city experiences in Italy, Please do read our blog on Italy ( swissolidays | Blog) , also check out this package swissolidays.com
  3. Swiss With Austria: Adding another neighbouring Austria is also a great option. Austria also offers great opportunity to indulge not only in scenic beauty but it offers amazing city experiences with some nice sightseeing opportunity. I recommend around 8–10 days trip in total for both these countries. Check out details here swissolidays.com

Option 1

I recommend the below destination to be visited if you visit Switzerland while you can stay in Interlaken or Luzerne . Please do have a swiss pass in order to save money and travel conveniently

1) Interlaken- 2 Nights
2) Luzern- 2 Nights

Both of these destinations can be easily visited by Train which are very convenient as swiss rail offer incredible connectivity, Its always advisable to travel with swiss rather then booking point to point ticket as they come out to be very costly and time consuming. With swiss pass you can travel on any train, bus, tram and ferry thus it offers more modes of transportation at the same price. You can get it booked from your travel partner as per the no of days you are staying.

You can either stay in one location and cover all these places but its advisable to keep a stop at two location i.e at luzern and interlaken or zurich and interlaken which will make more convenient to travel around these places

You should not miss Jungraujoch and Mt titlis excursion during the visit and from Zurich you can visit the Rhine falls which offers magnificent view of the falls .

Traveling within Swiss is very easy via train so please keep the time schedule handy with you so that you can plan your trip while roaming. You can click pictures of the train timings at the station where you are traveling or you can get the same from the information desk at the station

Tentative Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrive in Zurich and then take a train to Interlaken. Evening free at leisure though you can also explore a beautiful village called Boningen or explore a beautiful water fall at Trummelbach

Day 2 Take a train to Interlaken OST and then onward train to Grindelwald which is the starting point for the Jungfraujoch . Enjoy the whole day at the top of Europe.

Day 3. Travel to Luzern via train which will take around 2 hours from Interlaken OST and recommend you to take a slow train which is the most scenic one. Explore evening on your own

Day 4. After breakfast leave your hotel for Mt Titlis Excursion. From Luzerne you need to take a train to Engelberg which will take around 1 hour & 17 Minutes, after reaching Engelberg you need to take a free shuttle to the cable car area for reaching Mt Titlis. You must stay there till the last time as there is possibility of exploring snowfall.

Day 5. You can utilize this day as per your flight schedule, if you have a flight from Zurich in late evening then you can leave early for Zurich can deposit your luggage at the Station and leave for Rhine falls excursion. Alternatively if you have a flight from Geneva then you can leave early for Montreaux and do a ferry trip on lake geneva for 2 hours which is included in your swiss pass, please remember that ferry trips in Lake Geneva in Geneva is not free so its better you explore it in Montreux or Interlaken or Luzern which ever suits

Schaffhausen’s biggest claim to fame may be as the gateway to the Rhine falls.Schaffhausen to the Rhine falls is around 15 mins by public transport which is free on your Swiss Pass. Europe’s biggest waterfall, the Rhine falls measure 75 feet (23 m) high and 490 feet (150 m) wide. A dramatic series of falls unlike those in the more mountainous areas, they are one of the most popular sights in all of Switzerland.
